Kalissa Powell
Hello All, I am new to the state of GA, coming by way of St Louis MO. Unfortunately I have no previous volunteering experience but am ready to learn and and offer my services whole heartedly. Firstly when the opportunity was offered I was overwhelmed because usually these groups are already established and they make plans and agree on processes that you and your child must adhere too but the opinion is formed without the parents concerns being heard at all. Most times these people are white people who do not even live in the community. Grateful for the opportunity.

There is a major gap between student bodies, parents, candy school officials.. there is a lack of compassion, empathy, and control for any one related to this platform. I want to show that we can still get learning done on a more common bases , and put more resources for student help and parent help in effect.. while making a strong community of individuals.. no experience in volunteering, but I do have 4 kids whom have all gone through the DCSS and all experiences were both good and bad

I am new to Kittredge (4th grader parent), but not new to PACs. I was part of the Fernbank PAC for 4 years & part of the Druid Hills Cluster Alliance Regional PAC for 2 years. I helped the school parents/community navigate concerns related to redistricting and implementation of new curriculum, lesson planning, and testing requirements while also advocating for district-wide policy changes related to these concerns. I also advocated for funds from the school board for facility improvements at DHMS. I believe strongly in supporting our teachers, protecting classroom time for teaching, & ensuring Kittredge students thrive.

I will enthusiastically represent all view points of our diverse families of KMS. I would love to serve on the KMS PAC!

Tamika Mickens
As a 15 year (3rd year DeKalb) educator, I have been a high school teacher, elementary school counselor, and high school counselor. From my experiences in this field, I understand first-hand the importance of involving ALL community stakeholders in decision-making that leads to increased student achievement & performance. The school & community cannot live apart from one another, thus I desire to serve as a bridge for the families of ELC to not only the school itself but to DCSD. I endeavor to ensure CSIP goals are met, best instructional practices are used, and parents are continuously engaged and informed.

The mental health, more than education, is paramount to the success of our scholars. Community driven engagement with mental health and social resources is the only way in which we will lift all students of DeKalb to their full potential. Potential is a continuum. If we can help our community be ok with who they are, and give them confidence in being ok with themselves, they win.
